About the event

“8.5 x 11”

Curated by Suzanne Walsh & Evan Senn

January 30 – February 29, 2020

Opening reception: Thursday, January 30, 2020, 5-8pm

"8.5 x 11" will be include artworks by incarcerated artist Tyler Corcoran along with a selection of other contemporary artists who have been invited to create a work of art using the same limited materials he is forced to utilize in prison, an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and a #2 pencil.

Tyler Corcoran is a fine artist that learned how to draw while incarcerated. He is still serving out a sentence for armed robbery at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison. Drawing has become not only a means of personal expression but also a constructive avenue for him to process the events of his life, his homesickness, and his connection to his family. He is limited to making art on 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and a short #2 pencil, but his work is poignant and evocative.
